讲座摘要/Abstract:

Necroptosis is a pro-inflammatory form of cell death with critical functions in host defense and tissue homeostasis.  The key signal adaptors for necroptosis are marked by a unique protein-protein interaction termed the “RIP homotypic interaction motif” (RHIM).  Emerging evidence indicates that many pathogens encode inhibitors that interfere with the activities of the RHIM adaptors.  In this seminar, we will discuss the molecular mechanism by which the RHIM adaptors regulate necroptosis and strategies employed by viruses to counteract this host defense response.  We will also discuss the cell death-independent functions of the RHIM adaptors in tissue homeostasis.
