Dr. Zhongzhou Yang, professor and principal investigator in the Medical School of Nanjing University

Dr. Zhongzhou Yang is a professor and principal investigator in the Medical School of Nanjing University. Previously, I got a Master of Medicine from Beijing Medical University, and a PhD of Developmental Biology in University of Basel, Switzerland. I had postdoc training in the Fredrich Miescher Institure for Biomedical Research supported by Novartis Research Fundation in Basel of Switzerland. In the end of 2005, I joined Model Animal Research Center of Nanjing University to start independent research. In 2018, I moved to the Medical School of Nanjing University. The research focus of my laboratory is heart development and congenital heart diseases.

讲座摘要/Abstract:

Using mouse models, we investigated mitochondrial metabolism (metabolic transition) and protein quality control in embryonic heart development.In particular, we addressed whether mitochondrial metabolism and function regulates cell fate determination during heart development. Furthermore, we are studying mitochondrial metabolism in placental development to understand embryonic heart development and heart defects.
