主讲嘉宾/Speaker:

Dr. Lilin Ye

Professor of Immunology, Associate Chair of PLA Institute of Immunology, Army Medical University

Dr. Lilin Ye got his Ph.D from University of Maryland at College Park in 2009. Then, he moved to Emory University Vaccine Center for his postdoctoral training with Dr. Rafi Ahmed. In 2013, he started to build up his own research team at PLA Institute of Immunology, Army Medical University in China. His primary research focuses on dissecting T cell immune responses to viral infection and cancer. He published an array of papers in high-profile journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Immunology, Immunity etc.

讲座摘要/Abstract:

The continuous TCR stimulation in the context of immunosuppressive microenvironment, such as chronic viral infection and cancer, leads to the functional exhaustion of antigen-specific CD8+ T cells. One cardinal feature of exhausted CD8+ T cells is that these cells constitutively express  immune checkpoint receptors (ICRs), such as PD-1, Tim-3 and CTLA-4. Monoclonal antibodies targeting these ICRs have been approved to treat a wide variety of cancer types, however, their effect on treating chronic viral diseases is still elusive. In this talk, we will discuss the shared and diseas-specific exhaustion features of antigen-specific CD8+ T cells in response to chronic viral infection or cancer. Further, we will also compare the responsive networks in antigen-specific CD8+ T cells upon IC blockade between chronic viral infection and cancer.
