The Westlake Fellows Program is seeking outstanding newly minted or imminent PhD graduates with a track-record of excellence and creativity to establish their own independent research programs in any area of science and engineering. Westlake University offers both Chinese and English as its working languages, cross-disciplinary work environment, and an internationally competitive package of research support, salary, and benefits.

西湖青年学者作为全职独立实验室负责人或实验室共同负责人来校开展为期三年的研究工作。三年聘期结束后，如因科研工作需要，可申请延长三年聘期。入职日期可根据个人情况与本项目办公室和各学院协商确定。西湖青年学者可获得充足的科研启动经费，在校期间可专注于科学研究，无需花费大量的时间精力用于申请科研经费或课堂教学。但西湖卓越学者也可寻求外部经费支持。

Westlake Fellows work as full-time independent investigators and have full access to Westlake’s state-of-the-art facilities for a period of three years, which can be renewed for another three years after evaluation. Start dates are flexible. This is a great opportunity for researchers to start their careers, free from the need to raise their own grant support or the distractions of classroom teaching. Westlake Fellows can also seek additional external funding. 

申请人应即将获得博士学位或者已获得博士学位不超过两年，且未在其他学术机构以助理教授、副教授或正教授职位（或相当级别职位）工作。西湖青年学者应由资深教授提名，提名人须在提名信中详细阐述候选人已获得的科研成果和未来发展潜力。我们也欢迎特别优秀的青年学者自主申报。

Candidates are about to be awarded a doctoral degree or within two years of obtaining a doctoral degree and haven’t been employed as an assistant/associate professor or full professor (or equivalent). Candidates can be nominated by a senior investigator who can provide an in-depth analysis of their accomplishments and future potential. We also welcome direct applications from exceptional candidates.

申请材料须包括：申报意向书、完整的个人简历、三年任期内的研究计划书（不超过2页）、意向合作的西湖大学教授名单、提名信和三封推荐信（须由提名人或推荐人直接将信件发送到项目电子邮箱）。

西湖卓越学者计划下设访问学者项目，旨在引进在国内外顶尖学术机构担任助理教授、副教授和正教授职位（或相当级别职位）的专家学者来校开展短期学术研究与交流，为西湖大学带来更为活跃的学科交叉氛围。西湖访问学者须由西湖大学教研系列教师提名，直接申报和自我提名将不会被受理。

The Program also seeks Assistant/Associate/Full Professors (or equivalent) at institutions throughout the world as Westlake Visiting Professors to Westlake campus on a short-term basis for collaborative research, seeking to create a unique international intellectual community to break the geographical barrier for multidisciplinary research. Westlake Visiting Professors shall be nominated by Westlake University faculty members. Direct applications and self-nominations are not accepted.
